The 911 Carrera RS 3.6 was introduced by Porsche in 1992, and it was developed specifically for the European market as a lightweight, track-ready version of the Carrera 2. Whilst the RS did not look much different from the other 911 models on sale, engineers in Weissach utilised the simple and time honoured motorsports philosophy of “reduce weight, add power” to produce the most dynamic 911 since the original Carrera RS in 1973.
Porsche went to great lengths to reduce nearly 175 kilograms of weight off of the Carrera RS. Aluminium was used for the doors and bonnet, and thinner glass was used for the side and rear windows. Inside, Porsche disposed of the 911’s usual luxuries, including its rear seats, power windows, electronically adjustable front seats, and front armrests. Porsche also chose to forgo power steering, allowing for greater steering interaction and feedback for the driver. Thanks to the use of a lightweight single-mass flywheel that weighed just 12 pounds, the Carrera RS received a healthy boost in power, which also helped to make the 3.6-litre flat six more responsive over the standard unit that was featured in the Carrera 2.
This 1992 Carrera RS, finished in Black with a grey leatherette interior, was sold new in March 1993 by Porsche Car Comauto SPA Milano, and its first owner was Sisto Vito, a well-known Porsche enthusiast and collector based in Milan. It was no doubt optioned to reflect the sporting nature of the car, and according to its factory data card, it was equipped with a locking differential; bucket seats; 17-inch magnesium wheels, which helped save an additional 10 kilograms of weight; and the airbag-delete option. Vito preserved this 911 in as-new condition in his collection and used it sparingly, accumulating just 8,400 kilometres in his ownership.
Vito sold the car in late 2001, and it was imported to its native Germany by Oliver Neumann, who in turn sold the car to Hans-Otto Westphal in March 2002. In August 2004, the Carrera RS was purchased by its current owner, who has maintained it to a high standard. Other than a rear bumper re-spray that was performed shortly after it was purchased in 2004, which was due to a scratch on the rear bumper, this 911 is completely accident free, and it is accompanied by a full service record and its logbook, invoice, and paperwork from when the car was sold new.
As air-cooled 911s of any age continue to grow in popularity with collectors, finding an unmolested, unmodified, original example is becoming increasingly difficult. The Carrera RS has always been the darling of the 964 series of 911s, as it represents the purest form of the 911 available for purchase at the time. As it has under 12,000 kilometres from new and it has been incredibly well maintained since the moment it left the factory, this 964 Carrera RS would be an ideal addition to the stable of any Porsche enthusiast.

Trouwens er zijn toch meer dan 290 van gemaakt ? Volgens mij bedoelen ze de 964 clubsport version...
Anyway; de "verhouding" (964 vs 964 RS) zijn helemaal lost....![]()
