Los Angeles Times schreef: "Two Frenchmen, Jacques Seguela and Jean-Claude Baudot, made an 87,000-mile round-the-world trip in a Citroen 2CV and once substituted crushed bananas for oil to keep a gearbox working as it crossed a South American desert."
"In 1958, the very first round-the-world 2CV voyage took place. The car was 425 cc 2CV and the drivers were Jacques Seguela and Jean-Claude Baudot. They covered over 100.000 km and 50 countries. On their way, they crossed six seas, five continents, eight deserts and five mountain ranges. Have you heard of the crazy story about bananas in the gearbox? It happened on this trip. In the middle of Atacama desert in Chile, the gearbox drainplug fell out due to vibrations and the oil was spilled. What now? They stuffed some bananas into the gearbox and this was enough lubrication to be able to continue the trip."
