I know, I know. The last thing you want to hear about it what monstrosity Justin Bieber is driving around now. This time though it’s something rather interesting. Word on the street is that Bieber has commissioned West Coast Customs to build this Porsche 356 replica. I say replica, but really “Frankenstein” might be more appropriate. West Coast Customs is known for building pretty crazy stuff, and it looks like this will be no different.
A keen eye may notice though that the shape is not quite that of a normal Porsche 356. There’s a couple reasons for this. Most noteable is the fact the car is actually a 2010 Porsche Boxster on the inside. Although the Boxster is the smallest of Porsche models, it’s not quite 356 small. The result is a slightly unusual stance compared to an original 356. On the plus side, it appears the car will maintain the Boxster internals, which means it should be decently quick.
Aside from the slightly elongated body, you may have noticed some interesting lines around the roof. It looks like the car was designed to be both a coupe and a speedster. I need to see more pictures before I can say whether or not that was a good idea.
Is this the right ride for Justin Bieber?
Now I’m a pretty big fan of the Porsche 356 (Shameless plug for my Instagram: @356club), so I love to see them getting any sort of positive attention. That being said, I’m not sure how I feel about Bieber getting behind the wheel of one. Big celebrities cruising around Hollywood in them is nothing new. I just get a sense it’s a desperate attempt on Bieber’s part to look cool. I get it though. Look how freakin’ cool James Dean and Adam Levine look!
Regardless of how you or I may feel about Justin Bieber, I think we can both at least appreciate him doing something a little different. I’m certainly very curious to see more pictures and videos, and will be sure to share them when they appear!
