I had the same feelings. I discussed this with the private seller (who happened to be Official Audi Dealer salesman), and he explained to me that whoever has the two green documents (Fahrzeugbrief and Fahrzeugschein) is the owner... So with two green documents and a 2-way signed Kaufvertrag, you can always 'prove' that you're the owner. I have the appointment at RDW at November 18, so time will tell if I'm right

did the same, but bought the Jeep at a Subaru Dealership, not private. No transfer at post office or anything. Just signed the orderconfirmation.

Beste Herren,
I just wanted to update that today I finally completed the process for importing the car after having my Dutch kenteken plates made up.
I didn't have to pay any BPM or douane (today it's free for cars from 19.5 years old), and the only rejects in the APK technical test were a failed achter kenteken licht, and windscreen washer that doesn't work, and they gave me the APK anyway, trusting me to fix them afterwards.
Thanks to all of you for your help and advice,
Jeremy

Congrats! Funny to see that they are willing to bend the rules a bit if classic cars are involved

Enjoy it!
