Can anyone help.....
my 1989 930 turbo cabrio roof will not work. i opened it with my alarm remote and then tried too close it (normally) with the switch under the dash it closed nearly all the way but the last 10-20 mm it stopped and wouldnt lock. now it wont respond open or close it does nothing is this a easy fix i.e. fuse, sensor or motor problem or should i have it looked at.

First of all check the fuses, then..........tsja corrosion in the switch or bad connection somewhere in the electrical system. Could be anything.

I think it is because of the weather. You should help the roof manually to close it. The roof material, when it is (very) cold, cannot stretch that easy.

that is a valid point...but it closed (distance) ok it seems too have just failed to lock, which to me says the locking motor is kapuuut, but it doesnt explain why the cap will no longer respond unless it has too run a full cycle (close then lock) before it will open again.

There are several sensors checking the position of the roof while opening and closing and give signal to the motors when to start/stop. It can occur, when you close the roof, that for some reason it won't close or even just on one side. In my cases it helped by pushing the roof upward by hand and than pushing the button to open the roof to get it working again. Then fully open the roof and once fully open, close it again. When it's almost closed, help it a bit by hand to make sure it closes properly.
Most common reasons for the roof not to close are: Roof too long open > more than a few days or washing the car, drive around with roof down (still dense) and closing it when dry. Parking the car on an uneven surface can result in closing on only one side.
